Roxbury’s historic preservation focus of Saturday meeting

Saturday, March 8 at 10 a.m. is the date for the next conversation about Roxbury’s proposed historic Preservation Ordinance. The meeting has been scheduled on a Saturday to allow both full-time residents and second homeowners to attend. The meeting will be held in Roxbury’s Town Hall on Main Street.
“The feedback we received from townspeople at the first hearing was critical, and we actually held another meeting with some concerned citizens in the proposed district and rewrote the ordinance,” noted Mike Mathis, a member of the proposed historic preservation commission and a resident of the hamlet’s historic district.
The meeting is open to the public. The new draft ordinance can be found on-line at in the “Living” section of the website or you can request a copy at Town Hall. Last week’s News story on the town meeting erroneously noted that the hearing would be on a Monday: the meeting will in fact be Saturday, March 8 at 10 a.m.
