Life On Regal-Hill by Gail Hillriegel

It is a little warmer today here at Regal-Hill. It is raining instead of snowing and it is almost 40 degrees. The forecast is for it to get colder and the precipitation to become a mix of sleet and rain. It doesn’t sound very good to me. I am thankful I can stay home.

It seems that any Presidents’ Day menu needs to include cherries in at least one of the recipes one prepares for this special meal. As expected, there were plenty of cherry desserts like pie, but I also found these recipes as well.

I am not sorry to see January end and February begin here. I am always glad when a cold month has passed. Hopefully February will be warmer, especially since there is an extra day in February this year. If we could get rid of the ice we presently have, I would be grateful. I don’t want to fall nor do I want someone else to fall.

We here at Regal-Hill have been getting a number of seed catalogues. In fact they started before the New Year. Everyone is trying to be the first I guess. It is rather difficult to think about spring planting when there is snow on the ground and a cold wind even if the sun is shinning. Especially when it is only 30 degrees although that is much better than zero.

I continue to work on my Christmas preparations here at Regal-Hill. I still have more cards to do, but I am hoping to have them finished and mailed by the end of the week.
