Zoom Gallery set for new shows
Fleischmanns — Zoom Gallery is now fully stocked and showing the work of several local artists for the summer of 2014. The gallery’s Room 1 contains the work of Martha Jean who has been a lifelong painter, teacher, and curator of art.
Room 2 houses a mixed bag of local artists such as Christopher Engel, Fred Woller, and Jose Acosta, all of whom have had one-man shows at the gallery. Also in Room 2 are paintings by Marty Carey, who has work in collections at the Whitney Museum and other venues. Of note, Marty Carey was asked to create a poster for the first Earth Day in 1970, which led to the creation of the EPA, Clean Air, Clean Water and Endangered Species Acts. His memorable poster, pictured above, features bright fish above stylized eyes.
Room 3 contains dimensional art and paintings by muralist Alfredo Santos. Zoom Gallery has represented this artist for several years and continues to collect, exhibit and sell the work of this former Fleischmanns resident.
Zoom Gallery is located at 1164 Main Street and is open Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 254-4998 for further information.
