Watershed Corp. has stream cleanup supplies

in

Margaretville — There’s nothing like a warm breeze and the song of newly returned robins to stoke the urge for a bit of spring cleaning. This year, resolve to put on the gloves, grab a garbage bag and take that ambition outdoors where stream banks in the Catskills could use some attention.

The Catskill Watershed Corporation (CWC) will again this year support groups and individuals who clean litter and other debris from stream banks in their neighborhoods.

Individuals, youth and school groups, church organizations, civic and business associations, neighborhood groups and teams of friends are encouraged to scour stream and riversides for trash and to dispose of it properly. Volunteers are advised not to handle potentially hazardous debris, but instead to make public works officials aware of the location of such material.

The CWC will provide trash bags, gloves and tokens of appreciation to volunteers. Call Kim Ackerley at 586-1400 to arrange to get these items.

Might we suggest a cleanup in observance of Earth Day April 22? American Rivers is calling for groups to participate in the National River Cleanup effort this spring.
