Wall to lead Catskill Heritage Alliance
Shandaken —The membership of the Catskill Heritage Alliance elected Roger Wall as chair at the group’s annual meeting on June 26. Wall succeeds Rich Schaedle, who had held the post for four years. He pledged to continue the CHA’s core mission—“speaking out for the environment and the hamlets.”
A resident of Pine Hill, Wall grew up in a military family and as a child and young man “never lived anywhere for more than four years.” He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he majored in English literature. He has been an editor and writer, working as a free lancer, in both Africa and the U.S., and spent the bulk of his career as an editor and indexer for a medical publisher. He is currently at work on a novel.
An avid hiker and climber, skier, snowshoer, and cyclist, Wall is a member of the Catskill 3500 Club and founded and operated a volunteer gardening program at the Mohonk Preserve. He is a longtime active member of the CHA. Wall is married to Jan Jaffe, a member of the board of the Pine Hill Community Center.
Also elected at the meeting were Marge Lloyd as treasurer and Susan Colosimo as secretary, both of Pine Hill. Kathy Nolan, a resident of Shandaken, continues as the organization’s co-chair.
