Virginia (VanVoris) Becker, a resident of North Blenheim, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2014 at Robinson Terrace Senior Living in Stamford.
She was born June 7, 1923 at Middleburgh, the daughter of Edward and Alice (Chapman) VanVoris. Virginia married Paul John Becker on April 30, 1942. He predeceased her in1997.
Virginia was associated with the Becker Feed and Tire business for many years as part owner, bookkeeper, and secretary. She was a 1941 graduate of Middleburgh Central School. She enjoyed reading, cooking, ceramics, and playing bridge and pinochle.
She is survived by her sons, Kenneth and his wife Betty Becker of North Blenheim, John and his wife Patricia Becker of New Port Richey, FL and Fultonham, and Barry and his wife MaryBeth Becker of Troy; daughters, Caroline and her husband Thomas Renz of New Berlin, and BettyAnn and Angelo Lizzi of Rensselear. Nine grandchildren and 16 great-grand children also survive.
In addition to her husband Paul, she was predeceased by grandchildren Bryan Becker, George Renz, and Jennifer Ramsaran.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014 at the Miller Funeral Home in Roxbury from 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at the Grand Gorge United Methodist Church on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014 at 11 a.m. Pastor David Collins will officiate.
A committal service will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Grand Gorge.
Donations in memory of Virginia can be made to the Grand Gorge United Methodist Church, the Grand Gorge Fire Department and Rescue Squad or Chenango County Hospice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Miller Funeral home, Roxbury.
