'Vernal Equinox' at Longyear
Margaretville — Opening this week at Margaretville’s Longyear Gallery is “Vernal Equinox,” a group show featuring the work of Longyear Gallery members. An artists’ reception will take place Saturday, March 10 from 3-6 p.m.
The works on display will include new work by Longyear’s 26 members, who each work in different media, including oil, watercolor, acrylic, mixed media, ceramic, collage, and photography. “All of us are excited about the changing light as spring arrives and the way the light influences our work,” notes local artist and Longyear Gallery director Gerda van Leeuwen. “This is also our opportunity to showcase all our artists before the late spring, summer, and fall shows where we focus more on the work of one or two featured artists per show,” adds photographer and gallery member Helane Levine-Keating.
Upcoming Longyear Gallery shows include an April 5-29 retrospective show honoring the work of former Longyear member Michael Fauerbach, who passed away last year, and the May 3-22 show of member Elaine Grandy of Margaretville.
Longyear Gallery’s show “Vernal Equinox” will be on display from March 8 through April 1. Longyear Gallery is located upstairs at The Commons, 785 Main Street, Margaretville. Gallery hours are Thursday through Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and holiday Mondays by appointment.
