Teams at Margaretville Bowl rolled in Catskill Mtn. Tourney

Spring welcomed three annual tournaments to the lanes at Margaretville Bowl.
Teams from Walton and Margaretville competed in the Catskill Mountain Bowling Association Tournament over the first two weekends in April.
Winners in the five-man team event were Uncle Bob’s, who rolled 3,332 to collect the first place cash prize of $240.
Doubles were won by Mike Ford and Brian Balcom with a 1,424 total, singles also went to Brain Balcom first and Mike Ford for second with 774 and 748 respectively.
The All Events winner in the Catskill Mountain Tournament was Jeff Slavin with a total pinfall of 2,097.
Next was the 700 Club on April 20, an invitation-only to any of those league bowlers who have ever rolled a 700 series in competition.
Eight local businesses sponsored the event which featured a step ladder approach with head-to-head competition. First place winner was Justin Spickerman who defeated Drew Frano in the finals.
Third went to Armen Murad.
Finally, Sunday, April 27th competition featured the best adult bowlers paired with the best juniors in the 22nd Pro Am at Margaretville Bowl. The winners, Kelly Filupeit, Barb Ackerley and JR Lawrence, won with a 1,669 total score.
Two junior bowlers had their best score of the season during the tournament: Danny Bird had a 151 scratch, 203 with handicap and Amy Filupeit had a 186 scratch game in a series of 539. Barbara Funck was the tournament coordinator.
