Tabletop fashions featured at RAG June 19 fund-raiser

Roxbury — Back by popular demand: “Over the Tops Tabletops” in June! For eight years, The Roxbury Arts Group has been collaborating with inventive table designers on their biggest fund-raiser of the year. Last year’s intimate, low-key evening in October captured the golden ambience of the fall season.
This year, RAG returns on Saturday, June 19, greeting summer’s long, lovely days with “The Most Beautiful Night in the Catskills.” The Roxbury Arts Center on Vega Mountain Road will be graced with vivid décor as guests enjoy lively entertainment and scrumptious food. Funds raised by this splendid affair will support RAG’s expanding cultural and educational programming in Delaware County.
This year’s Tabletops is chaired by RAG board member, Gerry Murphy. The volunteer and catering team is headed by Bonnie Walker. The silent auction organizer is board member Mary Sheerin, whose tireless efforts helped fuel the success of Catskill Rural Aids Services’ annual art auctions. Catering will be provided by Jackie Lamport’s Home Style Cooking of Hobart. Wine is graciously provided by DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS.)
Tabletops tickets are available for $75. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with an hour of wine, hors d’oeuvres, and bidding on highly desirable silent auction selections, followed by a sit-down dinner.
Special auction packages include “Sommelier’s Delight,” “Family Fun,” and “The Pampered Pooch.” Also on tap are premium tickets to cultural events, recreation and tourism destinations, home and garden goods and services, health and beauty, and legal services, original artwork and crafts, children’s gifts, and RAG facility rentals. Surprise entertainment will be provided by…well, these are surprises you won’t want to miss!
Crowd-pleasing table themes, as always, range from playful whimsy to elegant formality.
This year’s roster of imaginative talent, at press time, includes paper artist, “Wacky” Wendy Brackman, floral designers Lydia Castiglia and Richard Simms, interior designers Donald Hill and Gerry Murphy, and other local creative folks, including Maggie Inge, Nola Tully, Susan Dennison, Jacinto Jorge, the Catskill Mountain Artisans Guild, MURAL Artists’ Cooperative of Stamford, and WIOX, Roxbury’s new radio station.
