Storycrafters concert planned for Friday at Andes auditorium

Andes — The musical storytelling duo “The Storycrafters” will be the featured performers in a free concert at the Andes Central School this Friday at 6:30 p.m. Described on the “Today" show as “two wonderful storytellers captivating children,” The Storycrafters (aka Jeri Burns and Barry Marshall) have been performing together for over 15 years. With their inimitable tandem style of telling, The Storycrafters tastefully weave music and story together in performances that have wowed audiences around the world.
In addition to being internationally renowned storytellers, The Storycrafters are award-winning radio show hosts, recording artists, writers, adjunct college faculty (Southern CT State University), and the parents of a budding acrobatic doctor who accompanies them wherever they go. Their creative work as storytellers is rivaled by their creativity in making child-care arrangements for their busy lives as a ‘family on the road.’
Jeri and Barry believe in the time-tested wisdom of traditional stories, and share that wisdom with today’s audiences. They strive to honor world cultures by telling the old stories in respectful ways, often integrating the musical instruments, songs or dances indigenous to that region. Then of course, look out for their original modern renditions of the oldest stories … some of their most requested material.
This free family concert is co-hosted by the Community Storytelling Troupe and the Andes Central School Community Events Initiative. For more information, please call 676-4727.
