Story Laurie releases 'Groovin' in the Garden'
Andes — Regional children’s performer Story Laurie is making “Buy Local” holiday shopping easier this season, thanks to her new CD “Groovin’ in the Garden,” which will be available in several area stores starting December 3.
Billed as Story Laurie and Friends, the music recording features Laurie’s vocals backed by a passel of talented musicians, including Laurie’s husband Ira McIntosh, who plays guitar, banjo, mandolin and ukulele.
Those familiar with Story Laurie’s live performances are already well acquainted with her voice and her natural ability to engage children and adults alike. This recording is no exception. “Groovin’ in the Garden” is a children’s music CD, but it is also designed to appeal to adults as well.
And with its wide range of musical genres and clever arrangements (thanks to producer and multi-instrumentalist Dean Jones), “Groovin’ in the Garden” definitely has something for everybody.
In addition to being a heap of fun, “Groovin’ in the Garden” speaks of Laurie’s twin passions for raising food sustainably and building community. This message comes through loud and clear in the title track, with its chorus: “Groovin’ in the garden, what a fine way to go/If you want to guarantee you’ve got good food to eat, then grow baby, grow/Groovin’ in the garden, everybody come along/we’re planting seeds of community and singing a mighty song.”
You can purchase the CD online at www.storylaurie.com; by contacting Laurie at storylaurie @gmail.com or 676-4727 or at one of the area stores that will be carrying the CD including Paisley’s Country Store and Hogan’s General Store in Andes, Catskill Mountain Artisan’s Guild in Margaretville and Russell’s Store in Bovina.
