In addition to the general activities, the Sullivan County Longbeards (the county chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation) will sponsor a “Women in the Outdoors” portion of the weekend on Saturday, April 19.
General activities will include: a New York State Hunter Safety Course on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., fly-fishing demos, a wildlife hike, orienteering, Global Positioning Systems (GPS) for outdoor recreation and sporting, plus tours of Frost Valley’s maple sugar house.
On the schedule for the “Women in the Outdoors” program are: turkey calling lessons, gun safety instruction, a fly-fishing seminar and map and compass skills training. In addition, a certified pistol instructor will conduct a pistol and skeet shoot.
Attendance on both days is necessary to complete this course and space is limited, so advanced registration is required.‚ÄÇ
