Sept. 23, 2009: Littering slobs make me sick

in

To The Editor:
The garbage and all sorts of litter I see alongside the roads where I drive or walk is unbelievable. Beer cans, soda cans, water bottles, plastic bags filled with garbage, metal junk from homes or cars, various unidentifiable objects. On and on.
I suppose it’s just too much trouble for the compulsive slobs to keep, say, a plastic or paper bag in their cars for their trash, to be disposed of properly, or to take metal junk from their homes or cars to the transfer station.
Isn’t there a law against roadside littering? If so, I think there should be a special punishment for these litterbugs. How about if they are caught practicing their uncivilized habit they are sentenced to spend a few weekends cleaning up roadside filth?
I see many beer cans that are tossed from cars. Hey, guys, don’t drink and drive. You might hit a bump and spill your beer.
