Scholarship offered by Catskill Center
Arkville — The Catskill Center is offering two scholarship programs in 2013. One is a college scholarship and the other sponsors a student to attend NYSDEC Camp DeBruce for one week.
The Catskill Center is offering a scholarship to seniors graduating from high schools that have a portion of their district within the Catskill Park.
The scholarship will be a minimum of $250 to one or more students to help offset the expenses of continuing education. The recipients for this scholarship will be chosen based on the following criteria: academic achievement, extracurricular activities, recommendations, future academic plans, and an essay on selected topics. This application deadline is Wednesday, May 15.
The Catskill Center is also sponsoring one student between the ages of 11 and 13 to attend a week at the DeBruce Environmental Education Camp in Livingston Manor.
The cost covers food, lodging, and activities while at camp. The parent or guardian must provide transportation to and from Camp DeBruce at designated times. The winner of this $350 scholarship will be chosen based on their application and the quality of their essay. This application deadline is Monday, April 1.
Home-schooled students are encouraged to apply for both scholarships.
