Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder plus fireworks show at Belleayre July 3
Highmount – The Belleayre Music Festival will color Independence Weekend “Red, White and Bluegrass” when Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder showcase their amazing repertoire on Saturday, July 3 at 8 p.m., followed by fireworks. Fourteen-time Grammy Award winner Ricky Skaggs returns to Belleayre in what promises to be a rousing holiday weekend showcase.
Known affectionately as bluegrass music’s official ambassador, Ricky continually blurs the lines between bluegrass, country, pop and rock; gaining new fans at every turn. Ricky’s sold-out show at Belleayre eight years ago brought down the house with his vast talents. Backed by his red-hot band, Kentucky Thunder, the fireworks on stage will be followed by a mountaintop display to cap off the Independence weekend concert.
Cross-pollination has been a mainstay throughout Ricky’s career. From his weekly collaborations with various artists as host of The Nashville Network’s Monday Night Concerts in the 1990s to his recent pairing with renowned pianist and pop songwriter Bruce Hornsby, Ricky is always breaking musical boundaries.
Whether it’s country, bluegrass or a hybrid, one thing is for certain and that’s Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder will offer a dazzling display of skills and showmanship.
