Police News: October 23, 2013
Thomas S. Merritt, 62, of Cornwall On The Hudson was arrested by state police on October 20 and charged with DWI after he was stopped on Arbor Hill Road in Delhi for an equipment violation.
In addition to DWI, police say that also charged Merritt with refusal to take a blood test, no plate lamp and plate obstructed.
He was issued appearance tickets and released to appear in Delhi Court at a later date.
Wayne R. Kaufman, 43, of New York City was arrested by state police on October 12 and charged with DWI following a one-car property damage accident on the Dry Brook Road in the Town of Middletown.
Police say they charged Kaufman with DWI after he failed a standard field sobriety test.
He was issued an appearance and released to appear in Town of Middletown Justice Court at a later date.
Frederick E. Fletcher, 60, of Andes was arrested by state police on October 13 and charged with DWI after he was stopped on county Route 3 in Margaretville for speeding.
Police say there were two passengers in the vehicle, including an 11-year-old child and that Fletcher was also charged with a violation of Leandra’s law and moving from lane unsafely.
He was issued appearance tickets returnable in Town of Middletown Justice Court on November 7.
Joanne G. Huggans, 54, of Stamford was arrested by state police on October 14 on a bench warrant issued by the Town of Stamford Justice Court.
She was arraigned and released to reappear at a later date.
Randy J. Batka, 19, of Margaretville was arrested by state police on October 15 and charged with criminal mischief following an altercation with a Roxbury man and his son over a broken Xbox.
Batka was arraigned in Roxbury Justice Court and released to reappear at a later date. An order of protection was issued in the case.
Edward J. Lynch, 68, of Yonkers was arrested by state police on October 19 and charged with DWI after his car was involved in a property damage accident at Hanah Mountain Resort and Country Club in Margaretville.
Police say they questioned Lynch and then charged him when his blood alcohol level allegedly tested 0.14 percent.
He was issued a ticket returnable in Town of Middletown Justice Court on October 31.
Ashley J. Baker, 22, of Delhi was arrested by state police on October 19 and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after she was stopped on Route 28 in Delhi for speeding.
Baker was issued tickets returnable in Delhi Justice Court.
