Phoenicia principal placed on leave
By Jay Braman Jr.
Linda Sella, the longtime principal of the Phoenicia Elementary School in the Onteora School District, was placed on Administrative Leave earlier last week.
Parents and guardians were informed of the matter via a letter sent home by District Superintendent Phyllis McGill.
On Friday, McGill had no comment on the matter, stating that it was a personnel issue, but did read the letter when asked to do so.
In the terse statement, McGill informed readers that Sella was placed on leave “for the next few days” and that McGill would keep the School Community informed about any changes.
In the meantime, McGill herself will be in charge at the Phoenicia School.
She said that she was at the school to make sure that everything operated as usual.
There are no plans at this time to install a temporary Principal.
Sella was hired by the Onteora School District back in September 2001 after Phoenicia School Principal Randy Collins took another position elsewhere at the last minute, leaving Phoenicia without a principal for the first few days of school.
