Oct. 28, 2009: Mike Finberg is proven asset on board

To The Editor:
Michael Finberg is running for re-election to the Middletown Town Board. Michael has proven to be an asset to the Town of Middletown over the years that I have attended town board meetings. Michael possesses a strong knowledge of the issues before the town, displays obvious intelligence and reasonableness, and encourages real debate and questions, where appropriate, of the various issues brought before the board for consideration.
Michael has certainly not been a “rubber stamp” and that in itself is beneficial if not gratifying. At the last town board meeting he alone questioned several line items in the proposed town budget for 2010, which includes a 4.1 percent increase in taxes on top of the elimination of the STAR school property tax credit.
I consider Michael Finberg a valuable member of the town board and encourage everyone to vote for his re-election on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
As a reminder, town board meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month at the Middletown Town Hall on Route 28 and are open to the public.
