Oct. 28, 2009: Middletown has strong candidates

To The Editor:
It is not often that a candidate for political office excites us enough to submit letters of endorsement. This year is different because we have not one, but two incredibly gifted and conscientious candidates for the Middletown Town Council: John Bernhardt and Mike Finberg.
We have known and worked with John and Mike for many years and both have earned our respect for their integrity, reliability and their ceaseless efforts to make Middletown a better place to live.
During his many years as an educator, school administrator, sports coach, and community organizer, John Bernhardt has repeatedly proven his ability to assess problems, design solutions, build strong working relationships and achieve objectives.
Throughout his tenure on the town board, Mike Finberg has consistently demonstrated his skills as a communicator, negotiator and legislator while working with the Supervisor and other Council members to meet the needs of the community. And, as a successful business owner, Mike is well positioned to deal with the economic challenges facing Middletown.
As long-time residents of Middletown, we feel especially fortunate to have these two highly qualified and gifted people running for the Town Council and we urge our fellow voters to cast their ballots for them on November 3rd.
