New Kingston News: April 16, 2008


Barbara Condon returned home Thursday after being in the Fox Hospital in Oneonta since Monday.

Karen Dahlgreen and a friend, of Kerhonkson, visited her parents Doug and Barb Condon Sunday afternoon. 

Rosemary and Frank Wisniewski of Highland Falls spent the weekend with her mother Wanda Lanzi. Paula Dobsa of Rhinebeck spent the day with them. She also has a place in New Kingston on Tuttle Road.

I heard the peepers Saturday night; old-timers would say “they have to freeze up three times before warm weather.” 

Francis and Barbara Hosier, who live outside of Oneonta, attended church here Sunday. Francis grew up here, the son of Marvin and Nellie Hosier.

Week of April 9

Margaretville-New Kingston Presbyterian Church service was held in New Kingston Church Sunday and there will be services here for the next three months at 9:30 a.m.

Agatha (Signor) Larkin of Ulster Park and formerly of Arena, called me Saturday to tell me that Mickey Van Keuren of Canandaigua had passed away. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam  Bluestone of Margaretville. They had a clothing store in Margaretville that stood where the NBT bank is. Mickey married Watson Van Keuren, also of Arena. The three all attended and graduated from Margaretville High School. Watson was a brother of Mabel George of Arkville.

Jackie Helmer of Kingston visited her parents Bill and Betty Elliott Sunday.

Robert Etherson and Christopher Shataka of Lindenhurst spent the weekend with Wanda Lanzi.

Charlie Schaffer has returned home after spending a few days in a Kingston hospital.

Doug and Barb Condon visited his Aunt Dorothy Davis at Hobart Sunday.

Dr. and Mrs. Alan Donavan of Oneonta visited Andy VanBenschoten and his mother Faye on Saturday, March 29.
