New guide service leads Catskills travelers
Aaron Engel, owner of a new small business Autumn Peaks Guide Service in Margaretville, recently led a group of students on plant identification hike.
During the August 19 excursion, the hikers learned how to identify wild herbaceous plants of the Catskill Mountains. The students who participated in the hike are studying acupuncture and herbology in New York City.
Following the six-hour hike, the participants enjoyed a meal at the Bun-n-Cone where they recounted their adventure.
Aaron said that the MARK Project in Arkville and various local businesses that played instrumental roles in helping get the Autumn Peaks Guide Service started.
The owner said he’s looking forward to expanding his operation and helping boost the popularity of Catskill Mountain hiking.
“I hope that this business will help boost the local economy by bringing more people to the area for the recreation services that Autumn Peaks has to offer,” Aaron stated.
