Misners celebrate 50 years together

Ivan and Rebecca Misner of Arkville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Nov. 5.

Rebecca (Becky) Lillian Gray grew up on her family’s farm in Andes with her father Paul, mother Lillian, and siblings Cynie, Charlie and Gary. She graduated from Andes Central School.

Ivan Wayne Misner grew up in Margaretville with his father Ivan, mother Laura and siblings Shirley and Dorothy. He graduated from Margaretville Central School.

They met in Margaretville, having been introduced by a mutual friend.

They were married in the New Kingston Presbyterian Church on November 5, 1961. After they were married they lived in Margaretville for three years and have lived in Arkville ever since.

Ivan worked for A&P in Margaretville for 30 years. After he retired, he owned his own construction business, doing everything from small jobs to building houses. He is now retired. Ivan has been a lifelong avid golfer.

Becky worked for Margaretville Central School as a secretary and then worked at the old Margaretville Memorial Hospital. After taking a few years off, she returned to work as a secretary for Dr. Magdi Halim. When he left, she worked for White’s Dairy. She is now is back at Margaretville Hospital as the radiology secretary.

They both thoroughly enjoy spending time with their children, Karen Bramley of Margaretville and Allen Misner of Arkville and grandchildren, Jeremy Bramley of Concord, NC, Mellisa Misner of Arkville, Nathan and Vanessa Bramley of Rochester, and Nicole Misner of Arkville.

The family is planning an open house to celebrate their 50 years of marriage. It will be held on Saturday, Nov. 26 at the Margaretville Firehall from 1 to 4 p.m. They would love to have all of their family and friends join them at this time.
