Memorial Day parades planned for Monday

Area communities will hold annual Memorial Day Parades on Monday, May 31.
Members of Middletown American Legion Post 216 will lead parades in Fleischmanns and Margaretville. The marching gets underway at 9 a.m. in Fleischmanns with the parade route heading down Main Street and stopping at the Skene Memorial Library for traditional ceremonies.
The Margaretville parade will begin at 11 a.m. at the school and proceed to the Legion Hall on Main Street where the traditional ceremonies will take place.
Roxbury parade participants will march south from the former Wrights’ Flats beginning at 9:30 a.m. along Route 30 to the village square. In Grand Gorge, the parade will begin at the former Victory store at 11 a.m. and head east on Route 23 to the village square and then north on Route 30 to the cemetery.
The Memorial Day Parade in Andes will begin at 11 a.m. The parade starts at Gladstone Hollow and will proceed through the hamlet to Bohlmann Park.
Phoenicia’s annual Memorial Day Parade will take place Monday, May 31 with participants gathering on the corner of Main and Bridge Streets at 10:30 a.m. for a trip up Main Street to the Shandaken Eagle, where ceremonies will take place.
