MCS tennis club looking to rebound with strong season
MCS varsity tennis, coming back from a mildly disappointing 2007 where they finished second in their league, looks strong for the new season which began March 31 at Andes, whose home games are being played in Fleischmanns.
Senior standouts include Andersen Morse, playing 1st singles for the third year, joined by Jessica Srp, three-time league doubles champion, as well as Dante Tarantini. Newcomer and fellow class of ’08 member Bob Miller rounds out the seniors playing for the Blue Devils. Juniors returning to the team are Holly MacDonald, Kory Ancona along with first time competitor Kailee Atkin. Fellow junior Josh Rodriguez remains a question mark at press time while his contributions to the past seasons are without doubt.
One sophomore, Michelle O’Reilly, returns to the team and is a player who shows some of Cassie Merwin’s dedication to winning. First timer Matthew Gray follows in his brother Jay’s footsteps by joining the tennis team as its lone ninth-grader. Co-captains are Andersen Morse and Jessica Srp; the team is coached by Marjorie Miller and home matches begin at 4:15 p.m.
