MCS nets tennis win over WAJ

The Margaretville Central School Varsity Tennis Team raised its league record to 2-0 Thursday when they defeated visiting Windham-Ashland-Jewett, 4-3. Margaretville won its first match on Wednesday by default over Charlotte Valley.

In singles play Thursday, Margaretville’s No. 1 player, James Warner, defeated Jeremy Torres of WAJ, 9-2. Playing No. 2 for MCS, Dylan Shaffer defeated Malcom Seamans, 9-3. Playing No. 3 for MCS, Brandon Belaski defeated Eddie Moran, 9-7. Playing in the No. 4 spot for MCS, Michael Conroy defeated Joe Pelham, 9-6. Playing in the final singles spot, Yair Sanches lost to Katie Exum in a tie-break, 8-6.
In doubles play, the Margaretville team of Rhiannon Kearns and Annette Hogan defeated Dalton Mannerud and David Sanders, 9-7. Margaretville defaulted in the second doubles match.
