The Pakatakan Farmers’ Market will open for its 23rd season on Saturday, May 17, at the historic Round Barn of Halcottsville. The Market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through October 11.  More than 30 Catskill area vendors will be on hand each week selling a wide variety of local farm products including meat, fish, maple products, honey, seasonal fresh produce, herbs, vegetable and garden plants, perennials, shrubs, baked goods, cheeses, jams and jellies, artisan wine and liquor, condiments, yogurt, pottery, jewelry, and soaps. “Half-Light,” a solo exhibition featuring images by photographer Helane Levine-Keating of New Kingston, has opened at The Erpf Gallery of The Catskill Center for Conservation and Development in Arkville and will be available for viewing through June 6. The artist’s opening reception will be held on Saturday, May 17 from 2 to 4 p.m.

“With an Eye Toward Nature,” an exhibit of color images by five area photographers, is on view at the Catskill Watershed Corporation (CWC) offices at 905 Main Street. The photographs, by John Mizel of Ulster Park, Linda Moriarity of Highland, Michael O’Donnell of Gardiner, John Hayes of High Falls, and Renee Zernitzky of Middletown, can be seen weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. through June 6. The public is most welcome.

Fairview Public Library will again host “Sit and Knit” group the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month from 5 to 8 p.m.  Bring any handwork project, and Tina Harp from Mountain Yarns will be there to assist and inspire. Call 586-3791 for details. The Fairview Library Book Discussion Group meets the third Monday of every month at 3:30 p.m. in the library’s boardroom. Andes Public Library: Book Group meets first Thursday of each month at 5 p.m. Stitch Witches gets together on the second and fourth Mondays at 2 p.m. Italian Circle meets the third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. Story Hour is held every Wednesday at 11 am (geared for the pre-school set during the school year.)
