Maureen Weidman

Maureen E. Weidman, 62, of Grand Gorge, passed away Friday, April 24, 2009 at Albany Medical Center, Albany. She was born Nov. 9, 1946, in Elmont, Long Island, the daughter of Daniel J. and Marian Kennelly O’Brien. She married Edward Weidman on April 13, 1969, in Elmont.
Maureen attended Gilboa Central School and graduated from Catskill Catholic School in 1965. She moved to Grand Gorge in 1971.
She was a certified teacher in ceramics and owned and operated her own ceramic shop for many years. She also owned and operated “Maureen’s” Restaurant and Ice Cream Shop in Grand Gorge in recent years.
She enjoyed Irish music and was very talented at making and decorating cakes for all occasions for many people.
She was a member of Saint Philip Neri Church, Grand Gorge, the Grand Gorge Senior Citizens Club and the Grand Gorge Community Group.
Surviving are her husband, Edward Weidman, Grand Gorge; three daughters, Eileen C. Weidman, Floral Park, Kristine P. (Weidman) Williams and her husband, Gregg Williams, Medford and Shannon M. (Weidman) Russell, North Blenheim.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 29 at Saint Philip Neri Church in Grand Gorge, with the Rev. Joseph Arockiasamy as celebrant.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Grand Gorge.
