Martha Bushnell, 98, of Kirkside Adult Home, Roxbury died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013 at the Margaretville Hospital where she was a patient for two days.
She was born February 7, 1915, a daughter of the late Clem and Cora Beattle Krom. Martha made her home in Arkville for many, many years. She was a hard worker all of her life, having retired at age 92 from working with Milton Valk at the Valkyrian Motel on Main Street in Fleischmanns. She had previously been honored at a Fleischmanns High School reunion, for being one of the oldest living school bus drivers. Martha also had been employed at Belleayre Ski Center, working with the kitchen staff. She will be deeply missed by all.
She was predeceased in May of 1987 by her husband, Malcolm, and a son, Elwin.
Surviving are her daughter, Shirley Barnes of Florida; six grandchildren, Jerome, Barbara, and Jeffrey Barnes, Brenda Calbo, Debra and Joseph Bushnell. Eight great-grandchildren, and nephews Rodney Greene and James Krom also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Martha will be held in the spring.
