Marie Helen Paradies, 83, a resident of Claryville, and formerly of Margaretville, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at Sullivan County Adult Home Care Center in Liberty.
She was born September 28, 1929 in Jersey City, NJ, the daughter of Calvin and Hilda (Archibald) Hennigar.
Marie worked for five years at Alaska Toys in New Jersey and then at Sudutos for two years in Staten Island before retiring from Pathmark, Inc. after working for 12 years at their Staten Island Store.
Marie enjoyed and loved flower gardening; she loved her cats and feeding the ducks with Pop.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Manon of Margaretville; sons, Richard Paradies of Kingston, and David and his wife Rose Paradies of Claryville, and daughter Elizabeth and her husband John McColgan of Staten Island. Also surviving are a sister, Gloria Danley of New Jersey, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
She was married to Richard W. Paradies for 60 years who predeceased her on June 30, 2012. She was also predeceased by sister, Betty Hennigar and a brother, Clavin Hennigar.
A funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan.10, 2013 at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville. Calling hours will be held before the service from noon until 2 p.m.
A committal service will be held at the Margaretville Cemetery in the spring.
