Marcia Spencer, 63, of Andes passed away on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008 at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, with her beloved family by her side. She was born in Andes on December 26, 1944, the daughter of Robert and Mary (Bush) Brisbane.
She graduated in 1963 from Andes Central School.
Marcia married Ernest Spencer.
She worked as an LPN at Margaretville Hospital, at Graham Labs in Hobart for several years and she also worked for Pattan Corporation in Highmount.
Marcia enjoyed having her family around her, gardening and just being outside barefooted. She also enjoyed watching game shows on TV, talking to Joe on the phone and going with Karen to the auctions. She also enjoyed putting puzzles together and Elvis.
Surviving are a son, Ernest Spencer (Kathy Shaffer) and her four adopted children, Timothy, Andrew, Nathaniel and Kayleigh, Andes; daughters, Connie and Donna Spencer, Andes; son-in-law, Ken Weaver, Andes; her pride and joy granddaughters, Meghan and Marissa Peck and Cheyenne and Laurynn Weaver, Andes; sisters, Gladys Fairbairn and Margaret Moshier, both of Andes and Dorothy Vanderlyn, Shokan.
She was predeceased by her father, Robert Brisbane in 1970 and her mother, Mary Brisbane in 2000; her husband, Ernest Spencer in 2000; brothers, Robert and Marshall Brisbane, a sister, Effie VanDyke; brothers-in-law, Albert VanDyke, Donald Vanderlyn and Lester Fairbairn.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20 at Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville with Rev. Harold Patterson officiating.
Burial will be in Shavertown Cemetery, Andes.
Calling hours will be Wednesday 7-9 p.m. at Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Humane Society of Central Delaware County, Route 10, Delhi.
