Marbling demo at market

Halcottsville — Val Wells will demonstrate paper marbling on Saturday, Aug. 8 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Pakatakan Farmers’ Market at the Round Barn in Halcottsville.
Val will marble paper by floating paint on seaweed, drawing patterns on the surface, and applying paper to pick up the pattern. She will demonstrate traditional, historical patterns as well as more contemporary designs. Val has been marbling for more than two decades, showing her hand-bound albums, journals and boxes at craft fairs throughout the northeast.
Visitors are invited to experience the swirl of colors that occur with the technique that mesmerized European bookbinders in the 17th century.
