Lorilee N. Herdman, 53, of Holiday Drive, Woodstock died suddenly Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 at the Kingston Hospital.
A native and lifelong area resident, she was born December 25, 1958 in Margaretville, daughter of Lillian Reynolds Herdman and the late Paul Herdman.
Lori was a 1976 graduate of Onteora Central School. She earned her Associate’s and RN at SUNY Delhi, and later completed a Bachelor’s Degree. She had been in the health-care field for over 35 years; having started at Margaretville Memorial Hospital. She was later affiliated with the NorthEast Head Trauma Center, as well as Kingston and Benedictine hospital’s intensive care units. For the past 10 years, Lori had been employed as a nurse by Advanced Care.
Lori was excited by the challenge of the outdoors, and as such, was active in downhill skiing, snowboarding, tennis, yoga and skydiving. She possessed a well-worn passport of worldwide travel adventures. Lori was described by her family as passionate, as well as bold and beautiful. She ended every conversation with the same two words, “Love you!”
In addition to her mother Tillie, she is survived by her life partner, Bill Harder Jr.; a sister, Paula Herdman Tar; stepchildren, Corey, Olivia and Dallas and niece and nephew, Charlie and Jessie Tar. Several cousins also survive.
She was predeceased by her father, Paul Herdman in 2003, a brother, Charles in 1983 and a sister, SueEllen in 1968.
Friends will be received on Thursday, Dec. 6 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home, 87 Main Street, Phoenicia.
A service to celebrate the life of Lori Herdman will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7 at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph Darmstadt as celebrant.
Burial will be in the family plot at the Shandaken Rural Cemetery.
