Josephine Mary Turner, 77, of Oneonta passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009 at the home of her son surrounded by her family.
She was born May 22, 1932 in Prattsville, the daughter of the late Earl Sr. and Erma (Jones) Moore.
Josephine was a hard worker throughout her life, having been employed by numerous area businesses. She could always be counted on to help anyone in need and was known for her generosity, kindness, spirit, beautiful smile and huge heart.
Josephine had a special place in her heart for the Tri-County Singles Club in Oneonta. She also had a great love of music and dancing and watching her son race, and could always be found laughing with her friends.
Josephine was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be truly missed by all.
Surviving are her sons, Daniel and Marilyn Ballard of Grand Gorge, Jonathan and Debora Ballard of Stamford and Steven Jaeger of Oneonta; her stepsons, Gerald Jaeger and Linda Cross of Prattsville and Arnold and Diana Jaeger of Prattsville; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Earl Jr. (Sonny) and Jean Moore of Catskill and Richard Moore and Jessie Hall of Jewett; two sisters, Gertrude Simpson of Poughkeepsie and Louise Mudge of Roxbury. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Katherine, her brother, Thomas and husbands, Donald Ballard, Charles Jaeger and George Turner.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14 at the Prattsville Reformed Church located on Main Street, Prattsville, with the Revs. Greg and Rebecca Town officiating. Interment followed the service at Fairlawn Cemetery in Prattsville.
