John M. Ford, a resident of Louisville, Kentucky, and formerly of Roxbury, died Saturday Oct. 6, 2012 at the Baptist East Hospital in Louisville.
John was born on June 28, 1932 at Margaretville, the son of Leonard and Cora (Rosa ) Ford.
He married June H. Smith on May 14, 1955 at Roxbury.
John served in the U.S. Army from 1950 until retirement in 1978 with the rank of Sgt. First Class. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a past member of the Shandaken Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, June H. Ford; two daughters, Crystal and her husband Scott Smith of Kentucky, and Kim Skipper of Roxbury; four grandchildren and two great grand children.
Funeral and committal services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday Oct. 11, 2012 at the Roxbury Cemetery with military honors. The Rev. Richard Dykstra officiated.
Funeral arrangement were entrusted to the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.
David was predeceased by his father, John B. Hewitt, Jr. (John B. Hewitt, Sr, Martha Mary Sutter).
All that David was, including his own brand of a “touch of the outrageous” will be deeply missed. The memorial service will be private.
