John D. Bammel, 52, of Halcott Center and Kinnelon, N.J., died Friday, April 2, 2010 at the Margaretville Hospital. He was born August 26, 1957 in Houston, Texas, son of Elizabeth Cordray Bammel and the late Herbert Bammel.
John earned his B.A. at the University of Houston and his J.D. at South Texas College of Law. For the past 10 years he was a sales manager with his family’s business, PSI Sales in Lincoln Park, New Jersey.
John was a gifted musician who played the trumpet, piano and guitar. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing the reservoir or streams of the Catskills, or hiking amidst the beauty of the woods in upstate New York. He was actively improving his carpentry skills, and most of all cherished his time with his son, Matthew.
Surviving in addition to his mother, are his son, Matthew, sister, Elizabeth “Betsy” McLaughlin, all of Kinnelon, N.J.; a brother, Herbert Bammel, of Hawthorne, N.J.; his fiancée Kari Abols of Halcott Center; two nephews, three nieces and a great-niece and nephew also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of John will be held on Wednesday, April 7 at 12 noon at the Halcott United Methodist Church with Pastor Peg VanSiclen as celebrant.
Burial will be in the Halcott Center Cemetery.
