Janet P. Kelly, 79, formerly of Margaretville, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tucson, Arizona.
She was born in Margaretville on July 5, 1932, to Russell and Teresa (Fuller) Peck. She married Donald Kelly on July 12, 1953.
Jan spent many years as the bookkeeper for the family business of Kelly Power Equipment, formerly known as Douglas Kelly & Son Farm Machinery on Main Street, Margaretville until selling the business in 1973.
Jan and her husband Donald relocated their family to Tucson where she worked as a bookkeeper for Leon Bear, TL Smith and Villa Serenas Apartments and as a clerk for Walmart in their sewing and craft department.
Surviving are a daughter, Donna Kelly-Rakic of Lynchburg, VA, a son, Richard and wife, Sally Kelly of Tucson, AZ, a daughter, Teresa and husband, David Goodchild of Margaretville; grandsons, Matthew Augustine, Samuel Dunnings and Justin Kelly; great-grandchildren, Sean and Kealey Augustine; a brother, Gerald Peck of Bloomington, TX and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Don on September 26, 2011; her parents and brothers, Ronald and Richard.
Jan was an active member of the Red Hatters at the Rincon Country Mobile Home Park and did a lot of volunteer work for the craft fair held twice a year at the park.
She was a self-taught sewer, quilter, knitter and also did lots of macramé work. She was an avid fan of the Arizona Wildcats’ basketball team. Jan was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
A celebration of her life was held on Sunday, Jan. 8 at 3 p.m. at the Community Hall of the Rincon Country Mobile Home Park in Tucson, AZ.
Funeral arrangements were by the Angel Valley Funeral Home & Old Pueblo Crematory of Tucson, AZ.
