Hunter topples MCS in key softball tilt

A four-run seventh inning helped Hunter-Tannersville seal a key Mountain Division contest over Margaretville on the Blue Devils’ home field Monday night. Leading 6-5 heading into the final frame, the Wildcats scored four times to nail down the 10-5 victory. Erica Faulkner and Emily Kelly were hitting stars for the Blue Devils. Faulkner powered the long ball, smashing a two-run home run. Kelly had a multiple hit game batting at the top of the Margaretville order. Brittney Hull logged a solid performance on the hill for the home team. Hull was hurt by a series of “almosts” in the final frame, soft hit balls placed perfectly in holes just beyond the reach of Blue Devil fielders. Aimee Van Etten was the winning pitcher, throwing a complete game for Hunter.
