Henry J. Prince, 74, died Monday, June 29, 2009 at his home in Fairfield, N.J. where he had resided for 40 years.
Henry was a former resident of Ramsey, N.J., Europe and California.
He was born and raised in Walton and was actively involved in sports in Walton High School where he played football, basketball and baseball.
He attended the Community College of the U.S.A., Air Force, received his Associate in Aviation and graduated as flight engineer in 1977.
Henry was in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and later in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.
He received flight training at American Flyers Inc., United Airlines Overseas National Airlines, Saturn Airways Inc., Trans International Airlines and ITT Federal Electric Corp. in Rome, Italy.
In his aeronautical career he earned FAA licenses in Advanced Ground Instructor, Flight Instructor, Flight Engineer, Commercial Pilot and Airline Transport Pilot.
Surviving are three devoted daughters, Barbara Ege, Carol Gillooly and Rita Abarca; a dear sister and brother, Jean Sheldon and Rev. Leo Prince and loving grandchildren, Philip and Jennifer Craft and Diana Hardy.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Matilda (nee Marsico) in 2007 and a brother, Richard.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 3 at St. Thomas More R.C. Church, Fairfield, N.J.
Interment is in Margaretville Cemetery, Margaretville.
