Helen “Bucky” George, 82, of Arkville, died unexpectedly while visiting a daughter in Grand Junction, Colo. Helen, originally from Mansfield, Mass., was employed at Margaretville Memorial Hospital as a registered charge nurse for 45 years before her retirement in 1992.
Helen’s passions included her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, for whom she sacrificed all personal needs and wants, putting her family first.
She enjoyed collecting dolls and was the all-time best bargain shopper, finding great deals for her family and friends.
Helen was a Yankees fan and enjoyed watching her team with her granddaughter, Erin, and her husband, Matt.
She loved St. Patrick’s Day and was proud of her Irish heritage. Her favorite holiday was Christmas with her family, where she took tremendous pleasure in watching her family open the many gifts that filled the house. Helen was a caring and compassionate person, be it at a patient’s bedside or with her family and friends. Her door was always open, helping many in their time of need. Her house was always bustling with activity, and for Helen, the more the merrier.
