"Healthy Kids' Day" at Frost Valley Sunday


Frost Valley YMCA in Claryville will host its second annual “Healthy Kids’ Day” on Sunday, April 13 from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
Healthy Kids’ Day at Frost Valley is a day of fun and education, fitness, nutrition, safety and wellness. Healthy Kids’ Days are hosted annually across the country by the YMCA organization.
A tentative list of activities being offered includes the following topics and events.
Fitness/Adventure: Outdoor climbing tower, boating, zip line adventures and mountain boarding. Plus a fast-paced “minute soccer” game
Safety: Bike rodeo with safety checks for bikes and helmets and skill checks for riders. Tips on keeping children safe, information on local health services.
Wellness: Hand-washing station, a cautionary display about the over-use of screens (promoting Turn Off TV Week, information on mental health programs and preschool programs, blood pressure readings
Nutrition: Healthy snack station and a Nutrition Game Show.
Other Activities: A jumping castle and Giant Slide, the dance-dance revolution, line dancing. There will also be a number of free giveaways for children.
Camp Information: There will be information available about Frost Valley’s Day Camp and Summer Camp programs for 2008. Parents will be able to sign up their children for these programs during their visit.
By celebrating health and wellness of young people through a variety of fun, physical activities, YMCA Healthy Kids Day encourages kids and their families nationwide to stay active, connected and healthy. The YMCA Healthy Kids’ Day event is celebrated annually. Activities at participating YMCAs vary.
