Great support appreciated
To The Editor:
The combined efforts of the following organizations raised $3000 for the benefit of Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. Hospice touches almost all of us in one way or another, and is very deserving of our support. Having reached this wonderful goal, The Catskill Mtn. Cycling Club, Inc . gives a BIG thank you to the following “Tour de Pepacton” and “Float Yer Boat” committee members who gave so much time and energy insuring that these two events, “Tour de Pepacton” and the first “Float yer Boat” 5k walk/run went off without a hitch:
The Lindsay A. & Olive B. O’Connor Foundation for their continued support.
The MARK Project, Inc. under whose auspices The Catskill Mtn. Cycling Club , Inc.operates.
All the generous sponsors who DO believe not only in this cause, but in the fact that we ARE the recreational destination here in the Central Catskills. Thank you for your continued support.
The Central Catskill Chamber of Commerce’s executive director Carol O’Beirne , who assisted with logistics of “how” and “when” everything would take place.
The Margaretville Hospital Auxiliary Wellness Committee Chairman John Riedl , who with Nancy Millen organized the inaugural “Float Yer Boat” 5k walk/run event in Margaretville the same day as the cycling event, and made sure that it went off without a problem! Big thank you to the volunteers!
The Margaretville Telephone Co’s two wonderful volunteers: Candace Rudd and Chris Ousterhoudt, who took care of the music and those logistics, also providing us the space to hold our frequent meetings and worked tirelessly promoting this event.
The Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc.’s Bob Escher, who attended meetings, helped us out with encouragement and posters and never lost faith that this would be a success.
Our two SAG wagon drivers, who worked overtime to ensure that all of our riders completed the two rides safely (and didn’t run out of water), Marshall Rudd and Doug Odell.
Last, but certainly not least, Catskill Mtn. Cycling Club President, Billy Allison and Vice President Ron O’Connor and member John Carson, dedicated cyclists, who worked so hard to make sure that this event was well attended, worked out the routes, marked the roads, and shared the vision that the Catskills is the best place to ride, whether on a pro level, or just out for the afternoon on a casual ride to enjoy our beautiful scenery!
Save the date and mark your calendars! On Sunday, May 26, 2013 the “Tour de Pepacton” cycling ride and the “Float yer Boat” 5k walk/run will again take place . Start time: 9a.m. & 10 a.m. respectively.
