Golfers rack up aces at Meadows
Margaretville — They say lightening doesn’t strike in the same place twice but you couldn’t prove it by the sixth hole at The Meadows Golf Center (MGC) between Margaretville and Arkville over the past two weeks.
During night men’s league play on Tuesday, July 19, Jeremiah Stone of Denver scored a
Hole-in-one on the 138-yard, par-3 6th hole using a seven iron. In an interesting side note, his partner, Mike McCaffrey from Roxbury scored a hole in one on the same hole last year during Tuesday night men’s league play. Even more bazaar, their opponent, Erik Tompkins of Highmount aced the very same 6th hole while playing a casual round with partner James Litaker of Andes during the 2010 season.
Lightening struck again on Monday, July 25 when Ozzie Roman of Highmount and North Bellmore scored his first hole in one with an eight iron on the 6th hole at The MGC.
His feat was witnessed by his playing partner and son Nick Roman and the foursome playing in front of them who saw it from the 7th tee box and applauded. Roman’s shot was a one hopper. It struck the green, bounded high into the air and went directly into the cup with no roll, a slam dunk.
