Gloria B. Shaver, 91, of Turnwood passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013 at Roscoe Regional Rehabilitation & RHCF.
She was the daughter of the late Richard and Lena Owens Borden, born on December 28, 1921 in Arena.
She was very active in her community throughout her life. She was a member of the Sullivan County Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #298 for over 50 years. She was a former member of the Livingston Manor Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and a former member of the Beaverkill Valley Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary. She was the Sullivan County Cooperative Extension agent and a past member of its board of directors.
She was the former owner of Beaverkill Valley Inn and manager of the Beaverkill Trout Club in Lew Beach from which she retired. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew and loved her. She will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her son, Zane Shaver; one daughter-in-law, Betty Shaver; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews and a host of friends also survive.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin D. Shaver; one son, Gary D. Shaver; one grandson, Kevin Shaver; one brother, Franklin R. Borden, and one daughter-in-law, Carolyn Shaver.
Visitation hours were held on Monday, Jan. 28 at Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl Street, Livingston Manor.
There was an Order of the Eastern Star service at the funeral home on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013 at 1 p.m. followed by a funeral service.
Interment is in the Lew Beach Cemetery, Lew Beach.
