Glenn Cole Sr.
Glenn V. Cole Sr., 88, of Andes, died at his residence on Thursday April 26, 2012.
Glenn was born on February 6, 1924 in Bovina, the son of Harold and Alida Cole. He married Gwendolyn (Reynolds) on November 24, 1945 at Lisle.
Glen served in the U.S. Army During WW II. He was employed at Andes Central School for 60 years working as a bus driver, mechanic, and custodian. He retired in 2004. Glenn also was caretaker of the Andes Cemetery for 20 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 200, Andes Fire Department as an assistant chief, and was a founding member of the Andes Emergency Squad. He was a 66-year member of the fire department.
Glen is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn M. Cole; daughters, Joyce C. Hall, Jacqueline A. Cowan and husband William R.; a son Glenn V. Cole, Jr. and wife Barbara Ann;
grandchildren, George Hall Jr. and wife Christine, Robert Hall and wife Maria, Melissa
Ann Cole, Ashley Elizabeth Cole; great-grandchildren, Meredith Hall, Nathan Hall and Abby Hall; a sister-in-law, Nora Cole; several nieces and nephews and many of his special four-legged pets.
He was predeceased by brothers, Olin and Oakley; a granddaughter, Donna Marie Cowan and a son-in-law, George Hall Sr.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday May 5, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Andes followed by a committal service with full military honors at the Andes Cemetery.
