Gerald "Toadie" Wright
Gerald L. “Toadie” Wright, 67, of Roxbury, passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009 at Margaretville Memorial Hospital in Margaretville.
Jerry was born June 9, 1941, in Morris, the son of Earl and Katherine Jacobi Wright.
He married Marlene Waterman on November 9, 1989, in Roxbury. They were married for 19 years.
Jerry was a farm worker and worked in construction for Dave Munsell for 30 years. He was a truck driver for Birch Hills Trucking in Freehold.
He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors. He enjoyed working in his garage, making various projects that he shared with his family.
He was a great “Poppy” to his grandchildren and was just a big kid himself. He was always good at making people laugh. His sense of humor will be missed. He truly loved people.
Surviving are his wife, Marlene Wright; a son, Gerald (Mindy) Wright Jr. and children, Mackenzie, Hunter and Madison; a daughter, Carol (Dodd) Coss and children, Tonya, Logan and Chelsea; stepchildren, Gerry (Joe) Moore and children, Stephanie and Kerri, Janine Sprague and (Joan Tiska) and children, Kaitlyn and Casey, Josh Ballard and daughter, Nevaeh; brothers, Earl Jr. (Barbara), Burr and Byron Wright; sisters, Flora (Ron) Ballard, Patricia Snyder, Bonnie Curcurato and (friend, Andrew VanRyn); in-laws, Dale and Patricia Decker, Walter and Wilma Cook, Randell and Barbara Waterman, Norman and Suzanne Waterman and Bradley and Merilee Waterman. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and best friend and companion, his little dog, Reba.
He was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Katherine Wright.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12 at Jay Gould Memorial Reformed Church in Roxbury with the Rev. Richard Dykstra, officiating. Burial was in the Roxbury Cemetery, Roxbury.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jerry’s memory to the Roxbury Emergency Squad, Roxbury, NY 12474.
