George Fusscas, 95, of Andes, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009 at Countryside Care Center, Delhi.
He was born October 14, 1913 in New York City the son of Peter and Angelica Fusscas.
George served in the U.S. Army in World War II.
He married Christina Vassileau July 14, 1951, in New York City.
He was the owner and operator of the Andel Inn, “The Greeks” of Andes from 1953-1986.
George loved to play cards and cook.
He was a former member of the American Legion Post in Delhi.
Surviving are a daughter, Ann Schultheis, Binghamton; two sons, Peter and (Tahirih) Fusscas and daughter, Olivia, Virginia and James Fusscas, Texas; grandchildren, Nathan (Gena) Schultheis and Bryan Schultheis and fiancé Janelle; a sister, Cecilia Kraker, Glen Clove and two brothers, Chris Fusscas, Andes and Louis Fusscas, California. Also surviving are nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Christina, June 7, 2004.
The funeral service was held Saturday, Jan. 24 at the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury with Rev. R.L. Donahue officiating.
Burial will be in the Andes Cemetery with military honors in the spring.
