Gary L Frasier, 59, of Port Richie, FL, died Tuesday April 3, 2012 at Trinity Community Hospital, Trinity, FL after a hard-fought battle with lung cancer.
Born March 4, 1952 in Margaretville, he was a son of the late Charles L. and Edith M. Frasier. He grew up in Shandaken, living in Northern New Jersey and most recently in Port Richie, Florida where he lived for the last 17 years with his companion, Susan Chamberlain.
He loved the outdoors and all outdoor activities, especially skiing and riding his motorbike. During his youth he had a love of fishing, especially in the ocean, and whale watching. He befriended any animal in need. Gary’s ashes will be spread in the Atlantic Ocean where he had many enjoyable fishing trips.
He is survived by two brothers, Charles J. and his wife Laurilyn of Phoenicia and Steve R. and his wife Dorian of Lexington; a daughter, Caroline Frasier of DeKalb, IL; two nieces, Claudine Dowley of Kingston and Ginger Byron of Mt. Tremper; two nephews, Scott of Petersburg, VA and Glenn of Atlanta, GA; five grandnieces, Faith, Ava, Tierney, Emma and Ella, and two grandnephews, Hunter and Evan.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at the Shandaken Methodist Church, Shandaken on Saturday May 12, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Ralph Darmstadt officiating.
