Flag honors those lost on 9/11

John Michelotti from the Fleischmanns-Pine Hill Rotary club presented a program concerning the “Flag Of Honor” program at the June 11 meeting of the Margaretville Rotary Club. The Flag of Honor (above) was created by Michelotti with the voluntary help of family and friends, as a memorial to those who died on September 11, 2001.  In addition to preserving the memory of those people, the proceeds from the sale of the flags benefit, among other charities, the Voices of Sept 11th, the National 911 Memorial and Museum at ground zero and the Wounded Warrior Project. On September 11, 2011 at the 10th anniversary of 9/11, 3,000 of these flags were flown in Battery Park with the lights from the 9/11-memorial site visible from that location.  For more information visit:  www.flagofhonor.org or call (800) 898-6099.  The red, white and blue frame for this flag exhibit was created by Klaus Thienel and Domenick Fucci with the thought that this quality framed flag may be exchanged for the present one now hanging in the National 911 Memorial and Museum.
