Fines can support police

To The Editor:
I am 57 years old and it had finally sunk in that speeding is a public nuisance and that police officers are public servants who are employed to protect the general public. It is never too late to learn.
Recently I have experienced this nuisance on area roads in and around the Town of Shandaken.  I never thought I would be writing a letter like this, but I believe if a town is experiencing this type of problem then town officials should expand their thinking and the police force and not hold to the ever popular underfunding and undermanned.

Traffic violations can provide adequate funds to support a larger police force.
Drive carefully this summer and follow posted speed restrictions here in the most beautiful park in the country, the Catskill Park.
