Festival of the Voice hosts Masquerade Gala on February 15

The administration and artistic principals of the Phoenicia Int’l Festival of the Voice will host a masked, black-tie fund-raiser, “Venetian Valentine’s Masquerade Gala,” on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. at Spillian.
Spillian: A Place to Revel, is an inn and retreat center in the Belle Epoque estate built by the Fleischmann Yeast and spirits family. Black tie and masks are requested. Admission is $250 per person. Call 586-3588 for information and reservations.
The artistic staff of the Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice, including Executive Director, Mezzo Soprano Maria Todaro; Artistic Director, Baritone Louis Otey, and Festival Chairman, concert pianist Justin Kolb, will headline a one-hour concert. Additionally, the evening will feature guest actor, playwright and author Carey Harrison (son of Sir Rex) sharing his fascinating, humorous, and sometimes titillating stories of his boyhood on the “sets” of Hollywood.
Also featured will be Venetian-styled hors d’oeuvres and desserts from Melissa Mirabai Zeligman, a chef and chocolatier from Washington DC, owner of Girl and Bee Honey and Chocolate Company, dancing to the Brazilian Jazz of ABACAXI, a selection of Italian still and sparkling wines, and a special 2014 Festival guest pass auction.
